This policy explains what personal information MeetYa collects, why we collect it, who processes it, and what control you have over it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
| What MeetYa is | An AI storytelling app. You roll a generated character, talk to it, and turn the conversation into an illustrated storybook. |
| The characters are not human | Every character is generated by AI. Nobody is behind the screen. We tell you this in the app, and if it ever stops being obvious we will keep telling you. |
| We collect | Your account details, everything you type or say in chats, the images you generate, device and log data, and purchase records. |
| We send to AI providers | Your messages, and the context a character needs to remember you. This is processed by third-party AI service providers under contract. Section 6 explains what they are and are not allowed to do with it. |
| Where processing happens | On infrastructure located in more than one country, including countries outside your own. Section 7 explains the safeguards. |
| We never collect | Precise location, your contacts, biometric identifiers, or advertising identifiers. |
| We don't train on you | We do not use your conversations, images or storybooks to train AI models. Our contracts with providers prohibit it. |
| No advertising | No ad networks, no ad SDKs, no cross-app tracking, and we do not sell your personal information. |
| You can | Export your data, delete individual conversations, and delete your account and everything attached to it — all from inside the app. |
MeetYa is operated by Hefei Yayi Information Technology Co., Ltd. (“MeetYa”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in Hefei, Anhui Province, China.

You can use MeetYa without creating an account. Conversations created in guest mode are stored locally on your device and are not synced to our servers. They are deleted when you clear app data or uninstall the app. Guest conversations are not recoverable by us and are not covered by our export or deletion tools.
People tell characters things they don't tell anyone else. That's the whole appeal, and it means your chats may contain health information, your sex life or sexual orientation, political or religious views, or details about your relationships and family.
We process this because you asked us to — it is part of the conversation you chose to have, and we can't generate a reply without reading what you wrote. We do not use it to build a profile of you, to target advertising, or to make any decision about you outside the app.
Two things worth being blunt about:
| Purpose | What this means in practice |
|---|---|
| Providing the service | Generating character replies, images, storybooks and speech; keeping conversation history; syncing across your devices. |
| Memory and continuity | Storing recalled facts, scene state and relationship progress so a character remembers you across sessions. |
| Community features | Displaying what you choose to publish, and handling reports and blocks. |
| Credits and subscriptions | Tracking balances, applying quotas, delivering purchased entitlements, and keeping the transaction records tax and accounting law requires. |
| Safety and integrity | Automated and human review of content for policy violations, abuse, fraud and illegal content. |
| Support | Answering your questions and investigating reported problems. |
| Improving the service | Diagnostics, crash analysis and aggregate statistics. See section 6 — we do not use your conversations to train AI models. |
| Legal compliance | Meeting record-keeping, tax and lawful-request obligations. |
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
MeetYa is an AI product. To generate replies, images and speech, your input has to be sent to AI models operated by third-party service providers who act as our processors. They process your data only on our instructions and under written contracts that restrict them to providing the service to us. AI processing takes place on infrastructure located outside mainland China.
| Function | Who performs it | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Conversational AI and narrative generation | Third-party AI service providers (sub-processors) | Message text, the conversation context needed for continuity, and character definitions |
| Image generation | Third-party AI service providers (sub-processors) | Scene descriptions derived from your conversation |
| Speech recognition and speech synthesis | Third-party AI service providers (sub-processors) | Voice recordings you choose to send, and text to be spoken aloud |
| Safety moderation | Third-party AI service providers (sub-processors) | Message text and generated content, screened for policy violations |
| Cloud hosting and storage | Third-party infrastructure providers (hosting located in Singapore) | Account data, conversations and generated media |
We list AI vendors by function rather than by company name, because the models and providers behind a given function change as we evaluate quality, latency, cost and safety — naming them here would make this policy wrong within weeks. Where data protection law lets us identify recipients either by name or by category, we use categories.
When we add a sub-processor that materially changes how or where your data is processed, we give notice before the change takes effect.
We do not represent that retention is zero. Short abuse-monitoring windows are an industry norm and a safety requirement; we require the shortest window the provider can contractually commit to.
MeetYa is a global service. Our primary infrastructure is located in Singapore, and the AI models that process your input run on infrastructure outside mainland China, so your information will be processed outside your country of residence, including in countries that are not covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission or the UK government.
Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on:
Processing outside your home country can mean the legal protections available to you differ, and that authorities in another country may be able to obtain your data under their own law. We minimise what is sent, we contract for the strongest safeguards available to us, and we will tell you if that changes materially.
If cross-border processing is not acceptable to you, do not use MeetYa.
You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing support@meet-ya.com. We may redact commercially sensitive terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing.
MeetYa has no advertising. Specifically:
We use a minimal set of operational analytics and crash reporting to keep the service running. These are not used to build advertising profiles and are not shared with advertisers, because there aren't any.
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | Until you delete your account |
| Conversations and generated media | Until you delete them or delete your account |
| Deleted items | Removed from active systems immediately; purged from backups within 30 days |
| After account deletion | Deleted within 30 days, except records we must keep by law |
| Purchase and tax records | 7 years, as required by applicable tax and accounting law |
| Safety investigation records | As long as needed for the investigation and any resulting enforcement or legal defence |
| Crash and diagnostic logs | 90 days |
We use encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, audit logging, and periodic review of our providers. No service can promise perfect security; if a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent.
All users, everywhere, can do the following directly in the app:
To exercise any other right, email support@meet-ya.com. We respond within 30 days (one month), extendable by two months for complex requests with notice to you. We may ask you to verify your identity.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. You may use an authorised agent.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law (including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon), you have comparable rights of access, correction, deletion and portability, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising and profiling. You may appeal a refusal by replying to our decision; if we deny your appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
You can delete your account and all associated data from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. You do not need to email us or submit a ticket.
What happens:
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account once it is deleted.
MeetYa is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or use the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete the account and its data promptly. If you believe a minor is using MeetYa, contact support@meet-ya.com.
Characters are designed as adult companions and the service may generate romantic or sexual content. It is not appropriate for minors, and we do not market it to them.
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect where required. Continuing to use MeetYa after a change means you accept the updated policy.

MeetYa characters are AI. They are designed to feel present and to remember, but they are not human, they have no feelings, and they are not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you are in crisis, see our Crisis Intervention & Safety Protocol.
